TONIGHT'S EMERGENCY TEACHING: A STUDENT BROUGHT POISON TO CLASS

Good evening, family. We have an emergency tonight. One of our students — God bless her heart, she's hungry for truth and that's why she's in this room — sent me something from YouTube. A man who calls himself "Ben Born Again" has created content claiming that the names of God in your Bible are actually pagan names. His teaching says:

  • YAHWEH = "God of metallurgy"

  • JEHOVAH = "Jahbulon" (a Masonic composite name)

  • ADONAI = an "invocation name" (implying it's occult)

  • EL SHADDAI = "Mother goddess"

  • YAH = "Egyptian moon god"

If these claims were true, it would mean that every prophet from Moses to Malachi, every psalmist from David to Asaph, every apostle from Peter to Paul, Jesus Himself, and 3,500 years of Jewish and Christian worship have all been calling on pagan gods. That is what this man is claiming.

Tonight I am going to take EVERY one of these claims and lay them next to the Hebrew text, the Aramaic text, the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Ethiopian Bible, the Book of Creation, archaeology, and linguistics. And we are going to see who is telling the truth — the original Scriptures, or a man on YouTube.

😄 I love YouTube. I learn a lot on YouTube. I've also learned that YouTube will let ANYONE with a camera and a conspiracy theory upload a video. There is no theological peer review on YouTube. The same platform that teaches you how to make sourdough bread also hosts people who think the earth is flat and the names of God are Satanic.

Discernment is not optional. It is survival.

Let's begin. Name by name. Claim by claim. Fact by fact.

NAME #1: YAHWEH (יהוה)

FALSE CLAIM: "Yahweh is the god of metallurgy" — implying YHWH is a pagan deity connected to metal-working or a Canaanite/Kenite tribal god.

What Scripture Actually Says

YHWH (יהוה) is the personal, covenant name of God revealed directly by God Himself to Moses at the burning bush. It is not borrowed from Canaanites, Kenites, Egyptians, or any other culture. God Himself defined it:

Exodus 3:13–15: "And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations."

Exodus 6:2–3: "And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD: And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them."

The Hebrew Facts

YHWH comes from the Hebrew root H-Y-H (היה), meaning "to be, to exist, to become." It is the causative form of the verb "to be" — meaning "He who causes to be," "He who brings into existence," or simply "I AM." This is not debated among Hebrew scholars. It is basic Hebrew grammar.

The name is composed of four Hebrew letters: Yod-Heh-Vav-Heh (יהוה). These are also the ONLY four letters in Hebrew that function as both consonants and vowels (matres lectionis — "mothers of reading"). The Name of God is composed of the letters that make ALL other Hebrew words readable. Without these four letters, Hebrew cannot be read. God's name is literally the foundation of the language.

The "Metallurgy" Claim: Where It Comes From and Why It's Wrong

The "God of metallurgy" claim comes from a fringe theory called the "Kenite hypothesis" — a 19th-century German academic speculation (not a discovery) that Moses learned the name YHWH from his father-in-law Jethro, who was a Midianite/Kenite priest, and that the Kenites were metalworkers who worshipped a volcano-fire deity. This theory was proposed by scholars like Karl Budde and Julius Wellhausen in the 1880s.

The problems with this theory are ENORMOUS:

  1. It has NO archaeological evidence. Zero. No inscription, no artifact, no ancient text has ever been found linking YHWH to metallurgy or a Kenite deity.

  2. The Bible explicitly says God REVEALED His name to Moses at the burning bush (Exodus 3:14). The text does not say Moses LEARNED it from Jethro.

  3. The name YHWH appears in Genesis — used by Eve (Genesis 4:1), by Noah (Genesis 9:26), by Abraham (Genesis 15:2), and throughout the patriarchal narratives — LONG before Moses met Jethro.

  4. The Dead Sea Scrolls (dated 250 BC–70 AD) contain the name YHWH written in paleo-Hebrew script in the middle of texts otherwise written in standard Aramaic square script. The Qumran scribes treated YHWH as SO HOLY that they wrote it in the OLDER, more sacred script. These were devout Jews, not metalworkers worshipping a volcano.

  5. The Mesha Stele (Moabite Stone, 840 BC) — a real archaeological artifact in the Louvre museum — mentions YHWH as the God of Israel. This is a HOSTILE witness — Moab was Israel's enemy. Even Israel's enemies knew YHWH was Israel's God, not a metallurgy deity.

Genesis 4:1: "And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD."

Eve used the name YHWH (translated LORD in the KJV) in Genesis 4:1. That is

THOUSANDS of years before any Kenite metalworker existed. The name predates the theory.

BIBLICAL TRUTH: YHWH is the self-revealed, covenant name of the Creator God, derived from the Hebrew verb "to be." It means "I AM" or "He Who Causes to Exist." It was revealed by God Himself at the burning bush, used throughout Genesis, confirmed in the Dead Sea Scrolls, attested by hostile archaeological witnesses, and worshipped by Jesus Himself. The "metallurgy" claim is a discredited 19th-century German academic guess with zero evidence.

😄 Calling YHWH "the god of metallurgy" because Moses' father-in-law was a Midianite is like calling your surgeon "a plumber" because his uncle fixed pipes. The connection is nonexistent, the logic is broken, and the patient is on the table. Don't let YouTube operate on your theology.

NAME #2: JEHOVAH / THE "JAHBULON" CLAIM

FALSE CLAIM: "Jehovah is actually Jahbulon" — a Masonic composite name combining Jah (Yahweh) + Bul (Baal) + On (Osiris). Therefore Jehovah is a pagan name.

What Actually Happened

First, let's separate two completely different things: the word "Jehovah" and the Masonic term "Jahbulon."

JEHOVAH is a medieval English rendering of the Hebrew YHWH (יהוה). Here's how it happened: In the Middle Ages, Jewish scribes wrote the consonants YHWH but, out of reverence, did not pronounce the Name. Instead, they read "Adonai" (Lord) wherever YHWH appeared. When the Masoretes added vowel points to the Hebrew text (6th–9th century AD), they put the vowels of "Adonai" (a-o-a) under the consonants of YHWH as a READING REMINDER. European Christian scholars who didn't understand this convention READ the hybrid as "YaHoVaH" — which in English became "Jehovah."

So "Jehovah" is a MISPRONUNCIATION based on a misunderstanding of Jewish scribal practice. It is not pagan. It is not Masonic. It is a European mistake from the 1200s. The actual pronunciation was likely "Yahweh" (based on ancient Greek transcriptions like "Iaoué" in Clement of Alexandria, 2nd century AD).

JAHBULON, on the other hand, is a term used in some Masonic Royal Arch ceremonies, first documented in the 18th century. Masons BORROWED elements from biblical Hebrew and MIXED them with other religious traditions. The Masons stole "Jah" from the Bible — the Bible did not steal "Jah" from the Masons. The thief does not make the original a forgery. If someone counterfeits a $100 bill, you don't declare all $100 bills fake. You arrest the counterfeiter.

BIBLICAL TRUTH: Jehovah is a medieval European mispronunciation of YHWH based on misunderstanding Jewish scribal vowel markings. It is not pagan, not Masonic, and not connected to Jahbulon. The Masonic term Jahbulon borrowed from the Bible, not the other way around. The original is YHWH — the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Psalm 83:18: "That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth."

The KJV itself uses "Jehovah" and declares it the name of the Most High over ALL the earth. If Jehovah were a pagan name, the Holy Spirit would not have allowed it into the inspired text.

😄 Blaming the Bible for what Freemasons did with biblical words is like blaming a locksmith because a burglar used a key. The Masons stole from Scripture. Scripture did not borrow from the Masons. The Masons showed up 3,000 years too late to be the source of anything.

NAME #3: ADONAI (אֲדֹנָי)

FALSE CLAIM: "Adonai is an invocation name" — implying it is used in occult rituals and is therefore dangerous.

What Scripture Actually Says

Adonai (אֲדֹנָי) means "My Lord" or "My Master." It comes from the Hebrew root "adon" (אָדוֹן), meaning lord, master, sovereign. The "-ai" suffix is the first-person possessive: MY lord. It is a RELATIONAL title expressing submission to God as sovereign.

Genesis 15:2: "And Abram said, Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?"

Abraham used "Adonai YHWH" — Lord GOD — in his very first recorded conversation with God. This is the father of our faith, the friend of God, using "Adonai" in prayer. If it were occult, Abraham was an occultist. And if Abraham was an occultist, the entire Bible collapses. Which is precisely what people who attack these names are trying to accomplish.

Psalm 110:1: "The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool."

In Hebrew: "Ne'um YHWH l'Adoni" — "The declaration of YHWH to my Lord (Adoni)." Jesus quoted this verse in Matthew 22:44 to prove His divinity. He used BOTH names — YHWH and Adonai — as valid, authoritative, divine titles.

Matthew 22:44: "The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?"

Dead Sea Scrolls: The Qumran community used "Adonai" extensively in their prayers, hymns (Hodayot), and liturgical texts. The Community Rule (1QS) and the Thanksgiving Hymns (1QH) contain "Adonai" as a standard address to God. These were the most devout, Torah-obsessed, purity-focused Jewish community in the ancient world. If Adonai were occult, the Essenes would have rejected it. They didn't. They sang it.

Aramaic Peshitta: The Aramaic equivalent is "Marya" ("Lord") — the standard Syriac Christian title for God and for Jesus. "Maranatha" (1 Corinthians 16:22) = "Our Lord, come!" The "Maran" is the Aramaic form of "Adon." The early Church prayed in Aramaic using the same root word.

BIBLICAL TRUTH: Adonai means "My Lord/My Master." It was used by Abraham,

David, Isaiah, Daniel, Jesus, and the entire early Church. It appears in the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Aramaic Peshitta, and the Ethiopian Ge'ez Bible. Calling it an "invocation name" is like calling "Daddy" an occult term because some strange person on the internet uses it weirdly. Context determines meaning. Abraham's context is the Bible. Not the occult.

NAME #4: EL SHADDAI (אֵל שַׁדַּי)

FALSE CLAIM: "El Shaddai means mother goddess" — implying it is a feminine pagan deity.

What Scripture Actually Says

Genesis 17:1: "And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect."

Exodus 6:3: "And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them."

Genesis 49:25: "Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb:"

The Hebrew Facts

El Shaddai is composed of two words: "El" (אֵל) = God, the mighty one. "Shaddai" (שַׁדַּי) — and here is where the debate lives.

There are THREE scholarly proposals for the meaning of Shaddai:

  1. From "shadad" (שָׁדַד) = to overpower, to be mighty. Hence: "God the Overpowerer," "God Almighty." This is the traditional translation used in the KJV and most English Bibles. This is the MAJORITY scholarly position.

  2. From "she-dai" (שֶׁדַּי) = "Who is sufficient," "The Self-Sufficient One." This is a rabbinic interpretation found in the Talmud (Chagigah 12a): "The One who said to the world 'Enough!' (dai)" — meaning God set boundaries on creation.

  3. From "shad" (שַׁד) = breast. Hence: "God of the breast," implying nourishment and provision. Some scholars note that Genesis 49:25 places Shaddai alongside "blessings of the breasts and of the womb," suggesting a connection to divine provision and fertility — not a "mother goddess."

Now here is the CRITICAL difference that "Ben Born Again" either doesn't understand or deliberately obscures: even if the word "shad" (breast) is part of the etymology, that does NOT make El Shaddai a "mother goddess." It makes God a PROVIDER who nourishes His people. The Bible FREELY uses maternal imagery for God:

Isaiah 49:15: "Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee."

Isaiah 66:13: "As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem."

Matthew 23:37: "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!"

God uses MATERNAL language for Himself throughout Scripture. That doesn't make Him a goddess. It makes Him a God so complete that He encompasses BOTH fatherly and motherly attributes. The Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) is grammatically FEMININE in Hebrew. The Shekhinah (Divine Presence) is described in feminine terms in the Zohar.

NONE of this makes God a pagan mother goddess. It makes God BIGGER than one gender category.

BIBLICAL TRUTH: El Shaddai means "God Almighty" or "God the All-Sufficient." Even the breast-connection, if valid, speaks to God's PROVISION, not paganism. God Himself introduced this name to Abraham in Genesis 17:1. If El Shaddai were a pagan title, God was introducing Himself with a false name. And if God lies about His own name, nothing in the Bible is trustworthy. The claim self-destructs.

😄 Saying El Shaddai is a "mother goddess" because it might contain the word for "breast" is like saying a "breast of chicken" is a feminist statement. The word "breast" describes anatomy and nourishment. Context determines meaning. God nourishes. That's what Shaddai says. End of controversy.

NAME #5: YAH (יָהּ)

FALSE CLAIM: "Yah is the Egyptian moon god" — implying the name Yah/Jah is borrowed from an Egyptian lunar deity called Iah.

What Scripture Actually Says

YAH (יָהּ) is the SHORT FORM of YHWH. It appears 49 times in the Hebrew Old Testament. It is not borrowed. It is not Egyptian. It is GOD'S OWN ABBREVIATED NAME.

Exodus 15:2: "The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him."

In Hebrew, this verse reads: "Azi v'zimrat YAH." "YAH is my strength and my song." This is the SONG OF THE SEA — the celebration after crossing the Red Sea. The Israelites had JUST been delivered from Egypt. They were singing AGAINST Egypt's gods. Does it make ANY sense that in their victory song against Egypt, they would use an Egyptian god's name to praise the God who defeated Egypt? That is theological nonsense.

Psalm 68:4: "Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him."

Psalm 118:14: "The LORD is my strength and song, and is become my salvation."

Psalm 150:6: "Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD."

That last phrase — "Praise ye the LORD" — is the Hebrew "HALLELU-YAH." Hallelu = Praise. Yah = the Lord. Every time you say "Hallelujah" you are saying "Praise YAH." This word appears throughout Psalms 146–150 and in Revelation 19:1–6.

Revelation 19:1: "And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:"

Revelation 19:3–4: "And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever. And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia."

Revelation 19:6: "And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth."

HALLELUYAH is the LAST worship cry in the Bible. It is sung in HEAVEN by the redeemed, the elders, and the living creatures around the throne. If YAH were an Egyptian moon god, then heaven itself is worshipping a pagan deity. And if that's the case, throw your Bible away. But it ISN'T the case. YAH is GOD'S NAME. And heaven knows it.

The Egyptian "Iah" Claim: Why It's Wrong

Yes, there WAS an Egyptian deity associated with the moon spelled "Iah" or "Ah" in transliteration. But here's the problem:

  1. The Hebrew "Yah" and the Egyptian "Iah" are from completely DIFFERENT language families. Hebrew is Semitic. Egyptian is Afro-Asiatic (Hamitic). Similar sounds in unrelated languages do not prove connection. The English word "dog" and the Mbabaram Australian Aboriginal word "dog" (meaning "dog") are coincidental — the languages are unrelated. Linguistic coincidence is not evidence of borrowing.

  2. The Egyptian moon deity Iah was a MINOR god, largely absorbed into Thoth and Khonsu by the New Kingdom period. He was not a major deity. Meanwhile, YAH in Hebrew is the name of the SUPREME God. Borrowing the name of a minor, fading Egyptian moon deity for the omnipotent Creator of the universe makes zero theological sense.

  3. Hebrew names containing YAH (theophoric names) are abundant in the Bible and consistently refer to YHWH: IsaYAH (Isaiah = "YHWH saves"), JeremiYAH (Jeremiah = "YHWH establishes"), EliYAH (Elijah = "My God is YHWH"), ZecharYAH (Zechariah = "YHWH remembers"), HalleluYAH ("Praise YHWH"). Every one of these names uses YAH as the divine element. They ALL point to YHWH. Not a moon.

  4. The Dead Sea Scrolls contain HUNDREDS of uses of YAH in hymns, prayers, and psalms. The Qumran community was fiercely monotheistic. They would have rejected any name tainted by Egyptian paganism. They didn't reject YAH. They sang it.

  5. As we taught in the Ruach study: the sound of breathing is YAH (inhale) + WEH (exhale) = YAHWEH. Every living creature pronounces God's name with every breath. This is BIOLOGICAL, not Egyptian. God encoded His name into the respiratory system at creation — Genesis 2:7, thousands of years before any Egyptian moon cult existed.

BIBLICAL TRUTH: YAH is the abbreviated form of YHWH — the covenant name of the God of Israel. It appears 49 times in the Old Testament, in the names of prophets, in the Psalms, and as the final worship cry in the Book of Revelation. It is not Egyptian. It is not lunar. It is the Name above every name, shortened for praise. HALLELUYAH.

😄 If YAH were the Egyptian moon god, then every time your grandmama shouted "HALLELUJAH!" in church, she was worshipping the moon. I'm going to let you sit with that for a second and decide if it sounds like the truth or like someone who watched too many conspiracy videos after midnight.

THE REAL ISSUE: WHAT IS BEN BORN AGAIN ACTUALLY DOING?

Now let me peel back the LAST layer. What is the actual agenda behind this kind of teaching?

Ben Born Again's broader content claims that Kabbalah is the "religion of the serpent," that Israel is "counterfeit," and that the names of God are pagan. His sources include conspiracy authors, not Hebrew scholars. His method is: take a similar-sounding word from a pagan context, place it next to a biblical word, and declare them the same. This is called the "etymological fallacy" — assuming that if two words sound similar, they must be related. Linguists reject this method categorically.

The RESULT of this teaching, whether intentional or not, is:

  1. Christians stop using the names of God in prayer — silencing their worship.

  2. Christians stop trusting the Hebrew Scriptures — cutting them off from the Old Testament.

  3. Christians become suspicious of Israel and the Jewish roots of their faith — a form of supersessionism (replacement theology) that leads to antisemitism.

  4. Christians become confused, fearful, and unable to worship confidently — which is the definition of a successful spiritual attack.

If the enemy can convince you that the NAMES of God are pagan, he has stolen your prayer language. If you won't say YAHWEH, ADONAI, EL SHADDAI, or YAH, what will you call God? You become nameless in worship. You become voiceless in prayer. You become powerless in spiritual warfare. And that is EXACTLY what the enemy wants.

Proverbs 18:10: "The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe."

The Name is a TOWER. A refuge. A fortress. If the enemy can convince you the tower is actually a trap, you will never run into it. And you will be left exposed in the open field, unprotected, wondering why you feel so vulnerable.

Joel 2:32: "And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call."

Acts 2:21: "And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved."

Romans 10:13: "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

Three times — Joel, Peter at Pentecost, Paul to the Romans — the same promise: call on the NAME and be SAVED. If the enemy can make you afraid to call on the Name, he has cut off your access to salvation, deliverance, and rescue. THIS is why name-attacks are so dangerous. They are not academic. They are strategic.

YOUR SEVEN TRUTHS TO CARRY OUT OF THIS ROOM

1. YAHWEH is "I AM" — the self-revealed name of the Creator. Not metallurgy. Not Canaanite. Not borrowed. Self-revealed at the burning bush. Used by Eve, Abraham, Moses, David, Jesus, and the Apostles. Confirmed by the Dead Sea Scrolls and archaeology. Genesis 2:4 to Revelation 22:21.

2. JEHOVAH is a medieval mispronunciation, not a Masonic name. The Masons borrowed from the Bible. The Bible did not borrow from the Masons. The counterfeiter does not delegitimize the original currency.

3. ADONAI means "My Lord." Used by Abraham, David, Isaiah, Daniel, and Jesus. Found in the Dead Sea Scrolls. Preserved in the Aramaic Peshitta. The entire early Church prayed using this root. Not an invocation name. A RELATIONSHIP name.

4. EL SHADDAI means "God Almighty" or "The All-Sufficient God." Even the nourishment connection points to PROVISION, not paganism. God uses maternal imagery for Himself throughout Scripture. That makes Him bigger than your gender categories, not smaller.

5. YAH is the abbreviated form of YHWH. It appears 49 times in the Old Testament, in the names of every major prophet, and as HALLELUYAH — the final worship cry in Revelation. It is not the Egyptian moon god. It is the NAME encoded in your breath. Inhale: YAH. Exhale: WEH. You are saying it right now.

6. THE NAME IS YOUR TOWER. Proverbs 18:10. Don't let anyone convince you the tower is a trap. Run INTO the Name, not away from it. The enemy's strategy is to make you afraid of the very weapon that defeats him.

7. TEST THE SPIRITS, NOT THE SCRIPTURES. 1 John 4:1 says test the SPIRITS. It does not say test God's names to see if they're pagan. When a YouTube teacher makes you MORE afraid of the Bible, LESS trusting of Scripture, and UNABLE to worship freely — that is not the Holy Spirit teaching. That is a spirit of confusion wearing a microphone.

1 John 4:1: "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world."

Tell your student this: the God who revealed His name at the burning bush, who split the Red Sea, who spoke from Sinai, who walked among us in Yeshua, who breathed on the disciples, who poured out fire at Pentecost — that God is not embarrassed by His name. He is not hiding behind a pagan label. He is YAHWEH. ADONAI. EL SHADDAI. YAH. And every knee will bow when they hear it.

Philippians 2:9–11: "Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

THE NAME IS ABOVE EVERY NAME. SAY IT WITHOUT FEAR. HALLELUYAH. MARANATHA.
