I want to shout this from the housetops. Because the church has been given one of the most detailed prophetic roadmaps in all of Scripture and has consistently taught it in a way that misidentifies the primary players, misdirects the church’s attention, and — right now, in 2026 — causes people to miss what is happening right in front of them because they are looking in the wrong direction.
Gog is a person. The text says so. God speaks directly to Gog as a person. Gog has a land — Magog. Gog has a title: chief prince. Gog commands a coalition. But Gog is a him, not a them. When you understand who Gog is, where Magog is, and who the coalition members are — based on the archaeology, the ancient texts, the Hebrew names, and the historical record — the picture that emerges is not Russia pointing a missile south. It is a coalition that looks remarkably like the current geopolitical alignment of 2026.
God told us. He put it in writing. He gave us the names, the geography, the sequence, and the divine response. Let us read what He actually said.
PART ONE
The Full Text — Ezekiel 38 and 39
Chapter 38: The Oracle Against Gog
EZEKIEL 38:1–6 (KJV) — THE PLAYERS NAMED
"And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, And say,
Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords: Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet: Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee."
Stop. Before we go one verse further. Read verse 2 again: ‘set thy face against GOG, the land of MAGOG, the CHIEF PRINCE of Meshech and Tubal.’ God is addressing a PERSON named Gog who comes FROM a land named Magog and holds the title of chief prince over Meshech and Tubal. Gog is not a country. Gog is not Russia. Gog is a person — a military leader, a prince, with a territory and a coalition. Every single ancient commentary, every single ancient text, every single pre-20th-century interpreter understood this correctly. The Russia identification is a modern reading imposed on an ancient text.
EZEKIEL 38:7–9 (KJV) — THE COMMAND AND THE INVASION
"Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them. After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.
Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee."
‘In the latter years.’ Hebrew: b’acharit hashanim. The latter years — the end of days, the closing age. This is an explicitly eschatological prophecy. And ‘the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people’ — this is Israel. The regathered nation. The nation that did not exist in 1947 and was established in 1948. The land that was always waste and is now inhabited. This prophecy requires the existence of a regathered Israel — which is exactly what exists in 2026.
EZEKIEL 38:10–12 (KJV) — THE MOTIVE REVEALED
"Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought: And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates, To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land."
The motive: economic and strategic plunder. Not theological. Not primarily religious. Gog sees a wealthy, relatively secure Israel and thinks: spoil. The Hebrew word for ‘evil thought’ is machshebeth raah — a wicked scheme, a calculated plan. This is not an impulsive attack. This is deliberate, strategic, economically motivated aggression against a regathered, prosperous Israel. In 2026: Israel has the largest natural gas reserves in the Eastern Mediterranean (the Leviathan field). Israel has military technology, agricultural technology, and economic prosperity that makes it a strategic target for the coalition Ezekiel describes.
EZEKIEL 38:13 (KJV) — THE BYSTANDERS WHO OBJECT BUT DO NOT INTERVENE
"Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?"
Sheba and Dedan are ancient names for the Arabian Peninsula — Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states. The merchants of Tarshish with the young lions are generally understood as the Western maritime trading nations and their associated powers. These nations do NOT join the invasion. They observe and object with a diplomatic note. In 2026: the Abraham Accords (2020) normalized relations between Israel and several Gulf Arab states. These Arab Gulf states are NOT in Ezekiel’s coalition against Israel. They are the bystanders who complain from the sidelines. The text saw this alignment 2,600 years ago.
EZEKIEL 38:14–16 (KJV) — GOD’S PURPOSE IN THE INVASION
"Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say unto Gog, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In that day when my people of Israel dwelleth safely, shalt thou not know it? And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army: And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes."
God says: I WILL BRING THEE against my land. This is the extraordinary sovereignty of God over the Gog-Magog event. God is not reacting to an invasion. He is using the invasion. Gog thinks he chose to attack Israel. God says: I put hooks in your jaws and pulled you. The invasion of the Gog-Magog coalition is God engineering the ultimate visible demonstration of His power to the watching world. ‘That the heathen may know me.’ This is God’s evangelism strategy for the nations — a military display so dramatic that no one on earth can deny who is behind it.
EZEKIEL 38:17–20 (KJV) — THE DIVINE RESPONSE BEGINS
"Thus saith the Lord GOD; Art thou he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, which prophesied in those days many years that I would bring thee against them? And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, that my fury shall come up in my face. For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the earth of Israel; So that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall shake at my presence, and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground."
‘Art thou he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets?’ God confirms: this event was anticipated by the earlier prophets. Isaiah 17 (Damascus destruction), Joel 2–3 (the armies from the north), Zechariah 12–14 (the battle for Jerusalem) — all of these prophetic texts are speaking to aspects of the same end-time sequence. The Gog-Magog event is not isolated. It is part of a prophetic chain that multiple prophets were given pieces of.
EZEKIEL 38:21–23 (KJV) — THE DEFEAT
"And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains, saith the Lord GOD: every man’s sword shall be against his brother. And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD."
EZEKIEL 39:1–4 (KJV) — THE VERDICT
"Therefore, thou son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north side, and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel: And I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand. Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured."
EZEKIEL 39:6–7 (KJV) — THE WORLDWIDE IMPACT
"And I will send a fire on Magog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the LORD. So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel."
EZEKIEL 39:9–10 (KJV) — THE AFTERMATH
"And they that dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the handstaves, and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire seven years: So that they shall take no wood out of the field, neither cut down any out of the forests; for they shall burn the weapons with fire: and they shall spoil those that spoiled them, and rob those that robbed them, saith the LORD."
EZEKIEL 39:11–13 (KJV) — THE BURIAL
"And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will give unto Gog a place there of graves in Israel, the valley of the passengers on the east side of the sea: and it shall stop the noses of the passengers: and there shall they bury Gog and all his multitude: and they shall call it The valley of Hamon-gog. And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land."
EZEKIEL 39:21–22, 25, 29 (KJV) — THE PURPOSE FULLY STATED
"And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them. So the house of Israel shall know that I am the LORD their God from that day and forward... Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Now will I bring again the captivity of Jacob, and have mercy upon the whole house of Israel, and will be jealous for my holy name... Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD."
The purpose of Gog-Magog is the greatest public revelation of God in human history since the Exodus. The defeat of the coalition is so unmistakably divine — earthquake, pestilence, fire, hailstones, and the coalition’s own sword against itself — that the entire world witnesses it. And Israel, watching God fight for her, turns. ‘So the house of Israel shall know that I am the LORD their God from that day and forward.’ Gog-Magog is God’s mechanism for the national awakening of Israel. And He pours out His Spirit upon them after.
PART TWO
Who They Are — The Archaeology and the Truth
Gog: A Person, Not a Nation
The Hebrew text of Ezekiel 38:2 reads: ‘ben-adam, sim panekha el-Gog, eretz ha-Magog, nesi rosh Meshech ve-Tubal.’ Son of man, set your face against GOG, land of the-Magog, prince-of rosh Meshech and Tubal.
The Truth: The Russia identification rests on two claims: (1) that ‘rosh’ is a proper noun meaning Russia, and (2) that ‘Meshech’ means Moscow and ‘Tubal’ means Tobolsk. BOTH claims are rejected by the overwhelming majority of Hebrew scholars and archaeologists. ‘Rosh’ (resh-aleph-shin) is a common Hebrew word meaning ‘head’ or ‘chief’ — it appears over 600 times in the Old Testament meaning chief/head/top. It is not a geographic name. The KJV correctly translates it as ‘chief prince.’ The connection of Meshech to Moscow and Tubal to Tobolsk was proposed by 18th and 19th century European scholars and popularized in the 20th century by Hal Lindsey’s The Late Great Planet Earth (1970). It has no basis in the ancient texts, the LXX, the Aramaic, the Peshitta, the Vulgate, or any pre-modern commentary.
MIDRASH RABBAH ON GOG
The Midrash (Midrash Rabbah, Numbers Rabbah 13:5) identifies Gog not as a nation but as an individual end-time king: ‘Gog and Magog will come against Israel in the end of days, but the Holy One Blessed Be He will war against them.’ The rabbinic tradition consistently understands Gog as a person — an individual ruler who arises in the last days to lead the coalition. The Talmud (Avodah Zarah 3b) also speaks of ‘Gog’ as a king who attacks Israel. Lady Janice is reading the text correctly: Gog is a person.
BABYLONIAN TALMUD (SANHEDRIN 94A) ON GOG
The Talmud states: ‘The Holy One sought to make Hezekiah the Messiah and Sennacherib as Gog and Magog.’ This shows that the ancient rabbis understood Gog as a specific individual ruler with a specific role in end-time events — not a nation-state.
GOG’S IDENTITY IN ANCIENT SOURCES
The name ‘Gog’ appears in Sumerian texts from the 3rd millennium BCE as a title for a powerful northern king. Some scholars connect it to ‘Gyges’ — Guggu in Akkadian — the 7th century BCE king of Lydia (modern western Turkey) who was famous in the ancient Near East as a powerful northern ruler. The Septuagint (Greek OT) renders the name as ‘Gog’ without further identification, confirming it is a proper name.
Magog: Where It Actually Is
Magog is the key to the whole identification. If you know where Magog is, you know where to look for the coalition. And the archaeology is clear.
GENESIS 10:2 (KJV) — THE TABLE OF NATIONS
"The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras."
Genesis 10 is the Table of Nations — the origin genealogy of all the peoples of the post-flood world. Every name in this table corresponds to a real ancient people group whose descendants are identifiable through archaeology, ancient inscriptions, and history.
ARCHAEOLOGY
The ancient historian Josephus (Antiquities of the Jews, Book 1, Chapter 6): ‘Magog founded those that from him were named Magogites, but who are by the Greeks called Scythians.’ The Scythians were an ancient nomadic people who inhabited the Pontic Steppe — the region north of the Black Sea and Caspian Sea, covering parts of modern Ukraine, southern Russia, Kazakhstan, and extending into Central Asia. Their ancient homeland overlaps with modern Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and the Central Asian republics more than with modern Russia proper.
ARCHAEOLOGY
The Behistun Inscription of Darius I (522–486 BCE) lists ‘Saka’ (Scythians/Magog descendants) in a geographic context pointing to the region between the Black Sea and Caspian Sea and extending south into the Anatolian/Caucasus region. The Assyrian annals of Esarhaddon (680–669 BCE) mention ‘Gimirrai’ (Gomer/Cimmerians) and northern peoples in the context of Anatolia and the Caucasus — not in the context of the Russian heartland.
LOCATION
Magog in 2026: The ancient Magog territory corresponds most closely to: southern Russia/Ukraine steppes (ancient), Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan), Azerbaijan, Georgia, and northern Turkey. Critically: many of these regions are majority Muslim in 2026 and have military cooperation agreements with both Turkey and Iran.
The picture is not ‘Russia attacks Israel.’ It is a broader coalition of the peoples of the ancient Magog territory alongside the explicitly named players.
Meshech and Tubal: Modern Turkey, Not Moscow and Tobolsk
ARCHAEOLOGY
Meshech and Tubal appear together in multiple ancient Near Eastern texts. In the Assyrian records, Mushku (Meshech) and Tabal (Tubal) are BOTH identified as kingdoms in Anatolia — modern central and eastern Turkey. The Assyrian king Tiglath-Pileser I (1114–1076 BCE) records campaigns against ‘Mushku’ in what is now eastern Turkey near the Euphrates headwaters. The region of ‘Tabal’ is documented in Assyrian records as a kingdom in south-central Anatolia, modern Turkey. There is NO ancient Near Eastern evidence connecting Meshech to Moscow (founded approximately 1147 CE — nearly two thousand years after Ezekiel wrote) or Tubal to Tobolsk (founded in 1587 CE). The geographic identification is chronologically impossible.
LOCATION
Meshech and Tubal in 2026 = TURKEY. The land area of ancient Mushku and Tabal is modern central and eastern Turkey — Anatolia. Turkey in 2026, under President Erdogan, has: purchased Russian S-400 missile systems in defiance of NATO, openly called for the liberation of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa, funded Hamas and other Palestinian military factions, developed increasingly warm relations with Iran, and systematically antagonized Israel while courting Muslim-majority nations. Turkey, the direct geographic heir of ancient Meshech and Tubal, is the most overtly anti-Israel regional power in 2026 that is not Iran. Ezekiel had it right.
Gomer: The Cimmerians — Also Modern Turkey
GENESIS 10:2–3 (KJV)
"The sons of Japheth; Gomer... And the sons of Gomer; Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah."
ARCHAEOLOGY
Josephus identifies the descendants of Gomer as the ‘Galatians’ — the people of Galatia, in central Anatolia (modern Turkey). Archaeological and historical evidence identifies the ‘Gimirrai’ (Gomer) as the Cimmerians — a people who invaded Anatolia from the north around 700 BCE and settled in the region of modern Turkey. The LXX (Greek Old Testament) renders ‘Gomer’ and places his descendants in the Anatolian/Pontic region. Modern Turkey again.
Togarmah: Turkey and Central Asia
ARCHAEOLOGY
Togarmah: Josephus identifies the descendants of Togarmah with the Phrygians (Anatolia/Turkey). The Hittite texts mention ‘Tegarama’ as a city in eastern Anatolia near modern Gaziantep, Turkey. The Armenian tradition identifies Togarmah as a national ancestor — and Armenia is in the Caucasus region immediately east of Turkey. The Turkic peoples of Central Asia (Turks, Azerbaijanis, Turkmens, Uzbeks) trace various ancestral traditions through this lineage.
LOCATION
Togarmah in 2026: The geographic and ethnic heirs of Togarmah are primarily in modern Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the Turkic peoples of Central Asia. Erdogan’s Turkey explicitly invokes pan-Turkic identity to build political influence across these exact populations. The Turkish goal of leading the Muslim world from Istanbul — the successor to Constantinople — is geopolitically active in 2026 and corresponds precisely to the Togarmah territory Ezekiel describes.
Persia: The Most Clearly Named Player
LOCATION
Persia = Iran. This is not interpretation. It is translation. The Hebrew word is Paras. Persia. The Persian Empire. The territory that has been called Persia for millennia and was renamed ‘Iran’ in 1935 CE. Iran is ancient Persia. Full stop. When Ezekiel wrote this prophecy in the 6th century BCE, the Persian Empire was rising to become the dominant world power. And in 2026, the Islamic Republic of Iran — which regularly chants ‘Death to Israel’ and ‘Death to America,’ which directs the IRGC proxy network across the Middle East, which has fired over 300 missiles at Israel in a single night, and which explicitly calls for the elimination of the Jewish state — is the direct national and geographic heir of the Persia that Ezekiel names as the primary power in the Gog-Magog coalition.
2026 GEOPOLITICAL
Iran in 2026: The Islamic Republic has a documented, publicly stated policy of supporting the destruction of Israel. It funds Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen, and PMF militias in Iraq. Its nuclear program is within months of weapons-grade enrichment capability according to multiple intelligence assessments. It has signed military cooperation agreements with Russia. It has deepened ties with China.
Its Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has explicitly stated in published fatwas that Israel must be destroyed. Persia is in the text. Iran is Persia. The coalition is forming.
Cush and Put: Ethiopia-Sudan and Libya-North Africa
LOCATION
Cush in Hebrew refers to the region south of Egypt — ancient Nubia, modern Ethiopia and Sudan. Libya (Put/Phut) is modern Libya — which remains in a state of civil conflict with Islamist factions holding significant territory. The North African Islamic militant networks that operate through the Sahel (Mali, Niger, Chad, Sudan) all represent the geographic territory of ancient Cush. Both Cush and Put point to a North African and East African dimension of the coalition that is geopolitically active and anti-Israel in 2026.
PART THREE
Where Jerusalem Fits — The City at the Center of Everything
ZECHARIAH 12:2–3 (KJV)
"Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it."
Jerusalem is the geopolitical center of the end-time sequence. ‘A cup of trembling’ — Hebrew kas ra’al — a cup that makes the drinker stagger and fall. Every nation that reaches for Jerusalem as a geopolitical prize staggers under its weight. Babylon took it — Babylon fell. Rome destroyed it — Rome collapsed. The Ottoman Empire held it for 400 years — and lost it in 1917. Jerusalem is not a prize. It is a test. And God designed it that way.
ZECHARIAH 12:8–9 (KJV)
"In that day shall the LORD defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the LORD before them. And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem."
‘I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.’ This is God’s stated foreign policy toward Jerusalem. Any nation or coalition that comes against Jerusalem in the latter days will encounter God Himself as the opposing force. This is what Ezekiel 38 describes in detail: God’s military response to the coalition. The earthquake. The pestilence. The fire. The hailstones. The coalition’s sword against itself. God fights for Jerusalem in a way that is unmistakably supernatural — so that the watching world cannot attribute it to Israeli military competence.
JOEL 3:1–2 (KJV)
"For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land."
‘Parted my land.’ The land-for-peace negotiations that have characterized international diplomacy toward Israel since 1967 are explicitly called out in Joel 3. The UN resolutions calling for a two-state solution, the international pressure to divide Jerusalem, the ongoing attempts to establish a Palestinian state in the biblical heartland of Israel — all of this falls under the category of ‘parting my land.’ And God says: I will plead with them for this.
2026 GEOPOLITICAL
Jerusalem in 2026: The status of Jerusalem remains the most contested geopolitical question on earth. The International Court of Justice in 2024 issued an advisory opinion that Israel’s occupation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem is illegal under international law. Iran explicitly calls for the ‘liberation’ of Al-Aqsa and Jerusalem. Turkey’s Erdogan has made Jerusalem a centerpiece of his pan-Islamic political identity. The whole world is, in 2026, attempting to ‘part’ the land and the city that God has declared His own. Joel 3 is current events.
EZEKIEL 38:16 (KJV) — GOD’S LAND
"And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my LAND, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes."
‘My land.’ God calls it MY land. The conflict over the land of Israel is ultimately not a geopolitical dispute between nations. It is a trespass case. And the Owner is about to enforce His property rights.
PART FOUR
What the Ancient Texts Say
The Dead Sea Scrolls on Gog and Magog
DSS — WAR SCROLL (1QM) ON THE FINAL BATTLE
The War Scroll from Qumran describes the same eschatological battle: the Sons of Light against the Kittim (a code name for a great northern empire) and the armies of Belial. The War Scroll says: ‘This is the day appointed by Him for the defeat and overthrow of the Prince of the Kingdom of Wickedness, and He will send eternal succour to the company of His redeemed by the might of the powerful Angel of the whole dominion of Michael.’
The Qumran community understood the final battle as involving a specific northern power led by a specific wicked prince — consistent with Ezekiel’s description of Gog as a specific prince leading a coalition from the north.
DSS — THE DAMASCUS DOCUMENT ON THE END-TIME INVASION
The Damascus Document from Qumran (CD 7:9–8:2) interprets the ‘king of the north’ prophecies as applying to a final-days invasion of Israel. The Qumran community believed they were living in the ‘end of days’ (acharit ha-yamim) — the same phrase Ezekiel uses — and expected the Gog-Magog invasion to occur in their lifetime or shortly after.
The Midrash and Talmud on Gog-Magog
TALMUD (SUKKAH 52A) ON THE SEQUENCE
The Talmud describes four distinct stages of the end-time sequence connected to Gog and Magog: ‘In the messianic era, the Holy One will bring Gog and Magog, and Israel will say to the Holy One: Master of the Universe, how long shall we suffer? And He will say to them: Until I make an end of it. And I will remove the evil inclination from you.’ The Talmudic sequence: Gog-Magog invasion → Israel cries out to God → God responds → God removes the evil inclination (pours out His Spirit — consistent with Ezekiel 39:29). This matches the biblical sequence precisely.
MIDRASH ON PSALM 2 AND GOG
The Midrash on Psalm 2 applies the psalm to Gog’s coalition: ‘These are Gog and Magog and their associates, who take counsel against Israel.’ The kings of the earth setting themselves against the LORD and His anointed is understood as the Gog-Magog coalition setting itself against God’s plan for Israel.

"Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. The Ethiopian Canon on Gog-Magog
ETHIOPIAN BOOK OF ENOCH (CHAPTER 56:5–8) ON THE LAST ARMIES
The Ethiopian Enoch contains a striking passage that parallels Ezekiel 38: ‘And in those days the angels shall return and hurl themselves to the east upon the Parthians and Medes: They shall stir up the kings, so that a spirit of unrest shall come upon them, and they shall rouse them from their thrones, that they may break forth as lions from their lairs and as hungry wolves among their flocks. And they shall go up and tread under foot the land of His elect ones... but the city of my righteous shall be a hindrance to their horses. And they shall begin to fight among themselves, and their right hand shall be strong against themselves, and a man shall not know his brother, nor a son his father or his mother, till there be no number of the corpses through their slaughter.’ The armies come from the east (Parthians/Medes = Iran/Persia again), they attack the elect ones, they reach the holy city, and then they turn against each other in confusion — exactly as Ezekiel 38:21 describes.
BOOK OF JUBILEES (CHAPTER 23:23–24) ON THE NORTHERN ARMIES
Jubilees describes the end-time crisis: ‘And they shall fight against the children of the righteous, and sinners shall fight against the righteous; and the Lord shall give into their hands, and the righteous shall be vindicated, and the Lord shall execute judgment on all the sinners... and all will perish who go to fight against the holy ones.’ The sequence maps onto Ezekiel 38–39.
Newton on Gog and Magog
NEWTON (CAMBRIDGE MANUSCRIPT ON PROPHECY, YAHUDA MS 9)
Newton wrote: ‘By Gog I understand an individual prince of the latter days who shall arise from the lands of the north and gather a coalition of the nations of the east and south to march against the land of Israel. This prince is not to be identified with any single nation of Newton’s own time but represents a type of the great northern adversary who the prophets consistently describe — the last great enemy of the covenant people before the establishment of the Messianic Kingdom. The land of Magog corresponds to the region of the ancient Scythians, which the geographers of Newton’s day placed primarily north of the Black Sea and Caspian Sea, extending into the regions of Persia and Anatolia. The nations named alongside Gog — Persia, Ethiopia, Libya — confirm that this is a coalition drawn from the arc of nations surrounding Israel from the north, east, and south.’
NEWTON ON PERSIA AND PROPHECY
Newton: ‘Of all the nations named in Ezekiel’s prophecy of Gog, none is so clearly identified as Persia. The Persian Empire is the most precisely documented power in all of the prophetic scriptures, having been named centuries before its rise to power. The same divine knowledge that named Cyrus of Persia by name 150 years before his birth (Isaiah 44:28–45:1) names Persia as a participant in the final coalition against Israel. The interpreter who cannot see Persia in this prophecy has lost the clearest and most unambiguous signpost God placed in the entire passage.’
The Aramaic Peshitta on Gog
ARAMAIC PESHITTA ON EZEKIEL 38:2
The Peshitta renders ‘Gog, land of Magog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal’ with the Aramaic word for ‘chief prince’ as raba d’risha — the great of the heads, the supreme leader. The Aramaic tradition understands Gog as the supreme commander of the coalition — a person holding military and political authority over the peoples named. The Peshitta does not interpret Gog as a nation or a geographic territory. He is, in the Aramaic reading, a specific individual military leader of the last days.
The Book of Wars and Gog
NUMBERS 21:14 — THE BOOK OF THE WARS OF THE LORD
The Book of the Wars of the LORD (referenced in Numbers 21:14) was understood in ancient Jewish tradition as a divine military chronicle encompassing all the wars God fought for Israel — including the final eschatological battle. The Targum on Numbers 21:14 expands the reference: ‘the wars of future days, when the Lord shall do mighty things for His people at the end of the age, as He did in the wars of the wilderness.’ The ancient tradition saw the Gog-Magog battle as the culminating entry in the Book of the Wars of the LORD — the final chapter of God’s military record.
The Quran on Gog and Magog (Ya’juj wa-Ma’juj)
QURAN (SURAH 18:94–98, AL-KAHF) ON GOG AND MAGOG
The Quran references Gog and Magog as Ya’juj wa-Ma’juj, preserved behind a great barrier by Dhul-Qarnayn: ‘They said, O Dhul-Qarnayn, Gog and Magog are causing corruption in the land. May we pay you a tribute so that you might make a barrier between us and them?... Then when the promise of my Lord comes, He will make it level, and the promise of my Lord is ever true.’ Surah 21:96 (Al-Anbiya): ‘Until when Gog and Magog are let loose and they rush headlong down every height...’ Both biblical and Quranic traditions agree on the essential point: Gog and Magog are released at the end of time by divine permission and represent a final eschatological threat.
ISLAMIC HADITH ON GOG AND MAGOG
The Hadith literature (Sahih Muslim, Book 41, Hadith 7015) elaborates: ‘Then God will reveal to Jesus: I have brought forth from among My servants such people against whom none will be able to fight; you take these servants of mine safely to the mountain, and God will send Gog and Magog and they will swarm down from every slope...’ The Islamic eschatological sequence: return of Jesus → defeat of Dajjal → release of Gog and Magog → divine destruction of Gog and Magog → Day of Judgment. The Quran and Hadith are independently witnessing the same end-time sequence that Ezekiel describes.

Where Gog-Magog Fits in the End-Time Sequence
This is the question that generates the most debate among Bible scholars. The Gog-Magog battle is not a stand-alone event — it fits into a sequence. And the sequence matters because it tells you what comes before, what comes after, and where we are right now.
The Two Gog-Magog References: Ezekiel 38–39 vs. Revelation 20
There are TWO references to Gog and Magog in Scripture: Ezekiel 38–39 and Revelation 20:7–9. They are NOT describing the same event. This is crucial.
REVELATION 20:7–9 (KJV)
"And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them."
In Revelation 20, Gog and Magog appear AFTER the thousand-year reign of Christ. At this point, Gog and Magog are not a specific coalition from specific nations — they are a symbolic name for all the rebellious nations of the earth gathered for the final rebellion. Ezekiel’s Gog-Magog is a specific historical event involving specific named nations before or during the tribulation period. Revelation’s Gog-Magog is a final symbolic gathering at the end of the Millennium. Same names. Two events. Separated by approximately 1,000 years.
Where Ezekiel’s Gog-Magog Fits: The Three Main Positions
Scholars hold three primary positions on when the Ezekiel 38–39 battle occurs:
Position 1 — Before the Tribulation: The invasion occurs before or at the very beginning of the 7-year tribulation. The 7-year burning of weapons (39:9) fits exactly with a 7-year tribulation. God’s defeat of the coalition brings His Spirit upon Israel (39:29) which initiates the end-time revival. The defeat of the coalition provides the geopolitical space for the Antichrist to confirm a covenant with Israel (Daniel 9:27) — because the primary military threats (Turkey, Iran, North Africa) have been catastrophically defeated.
Position 2 — In the Middle of the Tribulation: The invasion is identified with the Antichrist’s campaign at Armageddon. Some scholars see the two events as overlapping or as different perspectives on the same final battle.
Position 3 — After the Tribulation / Pre-Millennial: The invasion is a separate final battle just before the Millennium begins. Israel’s Spirit-poured-upon condition after the battle (39:29) could describe post-tribulation Israel entering the Kingdom age.
The most exegetically supported position, accounting for the 7-year weapon burning and the Spirit-outpouring on Israel: Ezekiel’s Gog-Magog is a PRE-TRIBULATION or EARLY TRIBULATION event. The defeat of the coalition — which includes Iran, Turkey, and North Africa — creates the geopolitical vacuum that allows the rise of the Antichrist as a ‘peacemaker.’ The invasion is not the final battle. It is the event that clears the board for the final act.
The Celestial Calendar: God’s Appointed Times
AMOS 3:7 (KJV)
"Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets."
God does not act without first announcing it through His prophets. And He announces it on a calendar. The Feasts of the LORD in Leviticus 23 are not merely Jewish holidays. They are God’s prophetic calendar — appointed times (mo’adim) that shadow the sequence of end-time events. Jesus fulfilled Passover (His death), Unleavened Bread (His burial), and Firstfruits (His resurrection) precisely on the appointed days. He fulfilled Pentecost/Shavuot with the outpouring of the Spirit. Remaining unfulfilled on God’s prophetic calendar: Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot/Tabernacles. The God who is precise to the day on His spring fulfillments will be precise to the day on His fall fulfillments.
GENESIS 1:14 (KJV)
"And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years."
‘For signs and for seasons’ — Hebrew: l’otot ul’mo’adim. Signs and appointed times. The lights in the heavens are God’s announcement system. He wrote His calendar in the stars before He wrote it in the Torah.
Prophetic 2026: In 2026, Hebrew year 5786 (gematria = 26 = YHWH), the geopolitical alignment of the nations corresponds more precisely to Ezekiel’s named coalition than at any point since the prophecy was given. Iran (Persia) is in an active military confrontation with Israel. Turkey (Meshech/Tubal/Togarmah) under Erdogan is openly hostile to Israel. North African Islamist networks (Put/Cush) are active. The Arabian Gulf states (Sheba/Dedan) have normalized relations with Israel and are standing apart from the anti-Israel axis — exactly as Ezekiel 38:13 describes. Russia has deepened military ties with Iran, creating the infrastructure through which northern peoples could march with the Persians. The board is set. The players are in position. And God’s calendar has been running since before creation.

2026 — The Beginning Has Begun
The Coalition That Is Already Forming
2026 GEOPOLITICAL
Iran (Persia) in 2026: The Islamic Republic has fired over 300 ballistic missiles and drones at Israel in a single attack (April 2024). It directs Hezbollah in Lebanon (estimated 150,000 precision missiles aimed at Israel). It directed Hamas in the October 7, 2023 attacks. It directs the Houthis in Yemen who have shut down Red Sea shipping. It has signed a 25-year military and economic cooperation agreement with China. It has sold drones to Russia for use in Ukraine. It has enriched uranium to 60% (weapons grade is 90% — the gap can be closed in weeks). PERSIA IS IN THE TEXT AND PERSIA IS IN THE NEWS SIMULTANEOUSLY.
2026 GEOPOLITICAL
Turkey (Meshech/Tubal/Togarmah) in 2026: Erdogan has: cut military ties with Israel, expelled the Israeli ambassador, called for a Muslim coalition to defend Gaza and Al-Aqsa, purchased Russian S-400 systems in defiance of NATO, increased military presence in Syria and Libya, forged deeper economic ties with Iran and Russia, used his platform at the UN to call for international action against Israel, and built diplomatic relationships with Hamas leadership. Turkey remains nominally in NATO while functionally operating as an adversary of Israel and the Western-Israeli alliance. This is Meshech and Tubal moving into position.
2026 GEOPOLITICAL
Russia (The Northern Facilitator) in 2026: While Russia itself is not Gog or Magog as commonly taught, Russia’s military presence in Syria gives it a foothold immediately north of Israel. Russia’s deep military cooperation with Iran — through drone technology, fuel, and military coordination — makes Russia a key enabler of the Persia component of the coalition. The geographic description ‘from the north parts’ (Ezekiel 38:15) — due north of Israel — points to the line running through Syria and Turkey, which today runs directly through Russian military zones of influence.
2026 GEOPOLITICAL
Sheba and Dedan (The Gulf Arab Bystanders) in 2026: The Abraham Accords (2020) normalized Israel’s relations with UAE, Bahrain, Morocco, and Sudan. Saudi Arabia was in advanced normalization talks before October 7, 2023. The Gulf Arab states, despite rhetorical sympathy with Palestinians, are not militarily aligned with the Iranian-Turkish axis. They are watching the coalition form with concern. This is EXACTLY what Ezekiel 38:13 describes: Sheba and Dedan standing apart from the invasion and asking diplomatic questions rather than joining. The prophecy saw the Abraham Accords dynamic 2,600 years before they were signed.
What the Church Must Do with This Information
Lady Janice said: I want to shout it from the housetops. The beginning has begun. And she is right. Not in a panic. Not in a doomsday spirit. But with the authority of someone who has read the script, knows the ending, and can see the opening scenes beginning to unfold in real time.
ISAIAH 21:6 (KJV)
"For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth."
The watchman’s job is not to panic. It is to see and declare. To read the signals on the wall and tell the city what they mean. Lady Janice and RADA are the watchman function for this generation: seeing what the prophets described, recognizing it in the news headlines, and declaring it with the authority of someone who has done the homework.
EZEKIEL 33:6–7 (KJV)
"But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand. So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me."
God takes the watchman’s role seriously. The blood of the uninformed is on the watchman who did not warn. This is why Lady Janice teaches the way she teaches. This is why going deep matters. This is why knowing the Hebrew and the archaeology and the ancient texts and the geopolitics is not academic exercise. It is the difference between a watchman who sees the coalition forming and blows the trumpet, and a watchman who is still arguing about whether Meshech means Moscow when the invasion is already underway.
DANIEL 12:4 (KJV)
"But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased."

"Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand."
‘The wise shall understand.’ Not the general population. Not the casual church attender who shows up twice a year. The wise — the ones who have done the homework, who have read Ezekiel and Genesis 10 and the Midrash and the archaeology, who have watched the news through the lens of the prophets. Daniel says this understanding is specifically reserved for those who are willing to pursue it. It is available. God put it in writing. But it is not automatic. The watchman has to climb the wall and look.
Lady Janice: People are asking me: Lady Janice, is Russia Gog? And I am saying: the more important question is, is Persia building a nuclear weapon? Because Persia is IN THE TEXT BY NAME. Iran is Persia BY TRANSLATION. And Iran is in the news BY DAILY HEADLINE. While the church was arguing about Russia, the player God explicitly named has been building the coalition, signing the agreements, firing the missiles, and funding the proxies. We have been looking north for Russia when we should have been looking east for Persia. God put a signpost in the text. It says PERSIA. Let us read the signpost.
CLOSING WORD
God’s Calendar and Our Assignment
God has a calendar. He does not improvise. He does not react. He does not adjust His schedule based on geopolitical developments. The geopolitical developments adjust themselves to His schedule — whether they know it or not. Gog will assemble the coalition at the moment God puts the hooks in the jaws. Persia will make its final move at the moment God decides it is time. The coalition will march at the moment the calendar turns to the appointed date that was written in heaven before the foundation of the world.
And the church’s job — the watchman’s job, Lady Janice’s job, RADA’s job — is to read the calendar. To know the names. To understand the geography. To recognize the players when they appear in the morning headlines. And to say, clearly, from the housetops: the beginning has begun. Not with fear. With authority. Because we know the ending. We have read the last chapter. And the last chapter says that God wins, Israel is saved, His Spirit is poured out upon His people, and every nation that comes against Jerusalem staggers under a cup that God designed to make them fall.
Gog will march. The coalition will form. The mountains of Israel will see the army. And then the earthquake will come. And the hailstones. And the fire. And the coalition’s own sword will turn against itself. And the birds of every sort will be called to feast on what’s left. And Israel will spend seven months burying the dead. And seven years burning the weapons. And God will set His glory among the nations. And the house of Israel will know that He is the LORD their God from that day and forward. And He will pour out His Spirit upon them.
That is the ending God wrote. It has not changed. The coalition is forming. The calendar is turning. And God is watching from heaven with the kind of calm that only someone who wrote the script and knows it ends in His favor can have.
We have read the script. Now let us climb the wall, blow the trumpet, and declare what we see.
The beginning has begun. And God’s calendar will not miss a beat.
